Your First Visit
Traditional Chinese medicine is an holistic therapy.
As such you will be asked about your main condition(s) in detail, and then an overall assessment of your body will be made by asking you questions about your general health.
As well as this you may be asked to show your tongue and your pulse might be felt. Tongue and pulse diagnosis are very important to the practitioner and can give signs as to the mechanisms of disease. You might also be assessed by palpation (an examination of a part of the body by touching) and by visual examination.
Please wear loose fitting clothing as this will be more comfortable for you and more accessible if palpation is necessary and for the treatment itself.
Your fist visit will probably last between 60-90 minutes depending on your presenting condition. After this, treatment will be tailored to suit your individual needs and follow up appointments are like to last between 45-60 minutes. The number of treatments required will vary depending on your presenting condition and the length of time you have had it but this will be discussed at the initial consultation.
